Why Volunteer
As a small center with only two full-time staff, volunteers are truly the foundation that sustains everything we do at the LGBTQ Center of the Cape Fear Coast. It takes all of us: folks leading community groups, greeting visitors, running events, working behind the scenes, and so much more.
Each person who gives their time and energy contributes to creating a safe and affirming space for Cape Fear's queer community.

Current Volunteer Roles Needed
All volunteers will receive a comprehensive orientation and training for their role.
As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will help recruit, onboard, and support other volunteers while keeping things organized and running smoothly. Your leadership ensures every volunteer feels welcomed, informed, and empowered to make a difference in our community.
Be the welcoming face and voice of the Center by greeting visitors and answering calls. You will help ensure everyone feels respected, safe, and connected to the resources they need.
As a Social Media and Marketing Volunteer, you will help engage the community through creative posts. Your storytelling helps connect people to resources, support, and broader community care.
In this position, you will assist with grant writing, grant research, and outreach that support our fundraising efforts. Your contributions help sustain our programs and ensure the Center has the resources it needs to thrive.
As an Event Support Volunteer, you will help make events, from Pride celebrations to community gatherings, welcoming and successful. Your time and energy bring people together and help create spaces where everyone feels included and celebrated.
In this role, you will represent the Center at community events by sharing information and connecting with new people. Your presence helps build visibility, trust, and understanding of our work throughout the Cape Fear region.
As a Facilitator, you will lead or co-lead Center programs such as support groups, workshops, or community discussions. Your guidance helps create a safe and affirming space where participants can connect, learn, and grow together.
