Meet the staff and board members helping build LGBTQ+ community, programming, and support across the Cape Fear Coast.

Staff

Executive Director • She/Her

Jamie Windham

Jamie has been in Wilmington since 2015 and graduated from UNCW with a B.S. in Biology. She is a proud pansexual, and she and her partner Reid are expecting a baby in September.

Jamie is excited to bring her skills in communication, relationship building, and critical thinking to the LGBTQ Center's mission. Her goal is to promote equality, provide resources, and build a supportive, fabulous community for everyone.

Favorite queer media: Killing Eve and Schitt's Creek.

Coffee order: Drip coffee with lots of non-dairy creamer and cinnamon.

Director of Development and Communications • She/Her

Sarah Grace Moxley

Sarah Grace has done community work in Wilmington for the past seven years in roles focused on poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, education, and youth development. She has worked in nonprofits, public schools, and service industry settings.

She has a bachelor's degree in English and Education, and she has completed post-graduate training in User Experience/User Interface Design. She brings a passion for justice, equity, and accessibility into her work at the Center.

Outside of the Center, she can often be found at community dinners, crafting with friends, or hanging out with her dog and her petsitting dogs and cats.

Administrative Assistant • He/Him

Cal Schutte

Cal Schutte is a Wilmington native and long time activist, particularly within the local Trans community. As someone who is both queer and disabled, he is dedicated to making the Center a place that is both inclusive of, and accessible to everyone.

Outside of his work at the Center, Cal can often be found volunteering at the library or working on illustrations.

Program Coordinator • She/Her

NelRae Toler

Hello everyone! My name is NelRae Toler, but I mostly go by Nel. In my role as program coordinator I help facilitate a multitude of our monthly programs here at the Center.

A fun fact about me is that I am obsessed with horror movies!

Favorite queer media: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge and Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street.

Coffee order: Mocha Frappuccino.

Pets: Two cats, Harley and Skylar.

Board Chair • She/Her

Elena Rosemond

Elena Rosemond is a native North Carolinian, a mom, an educator, and a photographer. She has her BFA in photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her Masters in Arts of Montessori Leadership from Sarasota University.

Favorite queer media: The Locked Tomb series.

Coffee order: Oat milk latte.

Vice Chair • She/Her

Cynthia Campbell

Cynthia moved to Wilmington in 2021 and quickly became involved in the LGBTQ community across the Cape Fear Region. She first joined the group for LGBTQ Seniors age 50+, originally SAGE and now Silver Pride Circle.

Her interests include helping promote more diversity and collaboration in the community. As a board member, she is proactive in helping the Center grow in visibility and move toward an actual Center building as a community hub.

Favorite queer media: A League of Their Own and But I'm a Cheerleader.

Coffee order: Skinny vanilla latte.

Ashanti Craine

Jamie Nguyen

Jamie was born and raised in southeastern North Carolina, hailing from the Lumbee Tribe and Vietnam. He and his partner have resided in a historic Sears and Roebuck home in downtown Wilmington for over 20 years.

Jamie is a licensed mental health therapist and began working in the mental health arena at age 15. It is an honor for him to professionally serve and care for the coastal community each day.

Favorite queer media: Heated Rivalry.

Nacole "Nic" Wyche

Nic Wyche is a passionate community advocate, leader, and proud member of Sigma Omega Phi Fraternity Inc. She is dedicated to creating safe, affirming spaces where people can grow, connect, and feel empowered to be their authentic selves.

Nic is deeply passionate about leadership, peer support, and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community through visibility, service, and compassion. She believes in leading with heart, authenticity, and resilience in every space she enters.

Favorite queer media: Documentaries about LGBTQIA+ resilience and impact.

Coffee order: A fruity refresher.

Pam Jones

In Virginia, Pam spent 16 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, advocating for children in the legal system due to abuse or neglect. Through that experience, she became educated, familiar with, and sensitive to the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

Finding the LGBTQ Center, she became an avid member of the vibrant senior social group now known as Silver Pride Circle. Volunteering for Center events grew into a strong desire to serve the community by serving on the board.

Susan Farrell

Treasurer • He/Him

Justin Smith

Justin Smith is a financial administrator for a large department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, working with budgets and finances for student organizations, campus activities, student government, and student success centers.

Justin also serves as the Organist and Choirmaster at St. Andrew's On-the-Sound Episcopal Church. He graduated from Wake Forest University with undergraduate degrees in political science and music, and from UNCW with a Master of Public Administration focused on public and nonprofit administration.

Favorite queer media: Classical music by LGBTQ composers including Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland, and Leonard Bernstein.

Favorite queer icon: Pauli Murray.

Go-to drink: Herbal tea.
